Morgan Banks

I am a fine art photographer, writer, and adjunct professor whose work explores the intersections of grief, womanhood, and resilience. Through my lens, I seek to make visible what is often silenced—the quiet weight of loss, the sacredness of memory, and the beauty that emerges from healing. My photographs are meditations on the inner lives of women, particularly Black women, whose stories of grief and grace deserve to be seen, felt, and remembered.

As the founder of Sistahs with Photos and the creator of Sistahs In Truth, a traveling grief retreat program, I use photography and storytelling as tools for communal healing. My work moves between the gallery and the gathering circle—spaces where art becomes both witness and balm.

Alongside my fine art practice, I also offer freelance photography services that honor the personal stories of my clients. Whether capturing milestones, intimate portraits, or the beauty of everyday life, I approach each session with the same care and artistry that guide my creative work, turning moments into lasting visual memories that reflect each person’s truth.

Teaching allows me to extend that same dialogue of truth and transformation into the classroom. As an adjunct professor in the Humanities, I guide students to see art not only as expression, but as a language of empathy and understanding.

Whether behind the camera or in community, my practice is rooted in honoring the stories we carry and the light that remains after loss.
